You must first create an account.  After your account is created you will go through several screens where you will input your contact information, your academic history, grades in key courses for program of study, your transcripts as PDF files, names and email addresses of person that you want to write letters of recommendation for you, your work/internship history, and a personal statement.
How much does it cost to use the service?
The student cost to use the service is $15 for prospective graduate students, $5 for prospective internship students.  Depending on the terms of the partnership, student members of our partnering associations may be granted a discount or a total waiver.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Your data is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Regulations (FERPA). This site uses a high-end Transport Socket Layer and a secure server/database configuration.  The site is scanned every day for vulnerabilities, and you can check our security seals on a regular basis.  We take several other steps to maintain data integrity and security.  Though we are not keeping financial or medical data on this server, we adhere to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy rules.  This site is also compliant with the IT security provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOA) and the Government Information Security Reform Act (GISRA), as well as Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
ScholarFind validates graduate and internship programs before we distribute account credentials.  Account credentials are transmitted in a way to make it unlikely that they can be electronically pirated.
What happens after I complete my profile?
The first thing that will happen is that the persons that you indicated as writers of letters of recommendation for you will get an email explaining the service and asking for a letter of recommendation for you.  The email will include a link where they can upload their letter as a PDF file.
You will not ever be able to see the letters, only whether or not they have arrived.  Once one letter has been uploaded for you your profile will be visible to the subscribing programs.
When subscribing graduate and internship programs see your profile, they may contact you with offers of admissions and financial aid, or with invitations to a campus visit.
Does this replace a normal graduate school or internship application?
No.  Your profile in this service does not constitute a formal application.  You will still have to fill out a program’s formal application.  This service just gets your credentials in front of more programs so that you can get a strong indication of whether or not they will accept you into their program.
If there is a program that you for sure know you want to attend, it is in your best interest to contact the program director and to submit a formal application to that program as early as you can.  But this service can result in acceptance offers from programs that you might not have been considering.
How does this service help?
There are thousands of graduate and internship programs around the world for any given academic field.  This service helps put your information in front of all of those that subscribe to this service; probably more than you would apply to individually.
How will programs contact me?
Subscribing graduate and internship programs will get your mailing and email addresses and your phone numbers from your profile.  Please be sure that you use a professional email address that you check often.
